Team Ireland place 2nd at Rushmoor Rosebowl 2013

Ireland claimed team silver at the Rushmoor Rose Bowl on Saturday 26th October 2013, thanks to a fine all-around performance from the five-strong team.

The team contained 3 of Salto Elite Girls Squad gymnasts Casey Bell, Nicole Mawhinney and India McPeak, with Nicole and India having recently returned from the World Championships in Antwerp.

Ireland recorded the best total score for an Irish international WAG team against very strong competition, with Casey Bell putting in a great performance to break the 50 point mark and claim a personal best of 50.3.

Ireland’s interest in the competition continued Sunday, where Nicole Mawhinney (6th) and Casey Bell (4th) competed in the vault final, while India McPeak (6th) joined Casey Bell (4th) in the A-Bars final.

National Performance Coach and Salto Elite Girls Squad coach, Kim Kensett was delighted with the strong team ethic that Ireland displayed over the course of the two days, saying: “the team has shown the ability this weekend to work together towards a common vision showing great potential for our upcoming junior and senior teams. So proud of our girls.”

Congratulations to all teams involved!!

Salto NGC given GymMark Status!

Salto have been given the GymMark status from governing body British Gymnastics! This means that we are officially recognised as providing a safe, effective and child friendly environment! The scheme has been developed by British Gymnastics (BG), in partnership with Sport England and the Home Country Sports Councils. Its purpose is to provide recognition for clubs that are committed to providing quality experiences, encouraging young people to take up sport, whilst focusing on improving their talent and maintaining a life long participation in sport.  GymMark has helped clubs in the UK to grow and develop, improving membership numbers and levels of performance.

Many thanks to Sarah (office manager) for all her hard work!!

Lisburn City wins 2013 ‘European City of Sport

Salto are pleased to announce that Lisburn has been named ‘European City of Sport 2013’. Salto NGC was one of the premises visited by a team of sporting assessors earlier this year. European Capital of Sport Association Vice Chairman Mr John Swanson spoke of Lisburn. “The range of sporting facilities and enthusiasm of all the people we spoke to was impressive. The Laganvalley Leisureplex, Salto, t

he hosting of the Chinese Olympic Gymnastics team in the City, the Rackets club, which was a designated training centre for the Olympic South African Badminton Squad, the activity centres run by the council, local opinion and the impressive Half Marathon event all accounted for our decision.”
Salto are proud to be part of a such a prosperous City of sport. WELL DONE LISBURN 🙂

Review from Netmums

Fantastic introduction to gymnastic classes for girls and boys from 3 years old. My son is very active, he loves these classes and they have really helped with his concentration. The staff are amazing and have dealt wonderfully with my son who can be quite a handful. The classes are great fun, they last for an hour, they learn new skills and keep fit. I drop my son off now and then pick him up later, so I get a break too.
